After a summer break, NODE+CODE is back, and meetup No.24, Feral Circuits, will host the two artists Carolin Brendel and Igor Štromajer, who both blend the borders between the machine and the metabolism. From mice to marine microorganisms, they will share their recent projects, exploring and creating intimate digital entanglements with nonhumans and electronics.

Carolin Melia Brendel is a media artist, artistic researcher and sociologist of finance. Her work explores the multimodal nexus between power relations and knowledge formations using transmedial, installative and anti-disciplinary methods. For her PhD Project on hardware metabolisms at the University of the Arts Bremen and the Basel Academy of Art and Design, she examines material-discursive cycles of digital infrastructures and their entanglement with the deep ocean hydrosphere in the context of digital capitalism.

Igor Štromajer—Homo ex Machina, an electric para-artist, “le Pavarotti du HTML”—explores tactical a=tF², intimate guerrilla strategies, and traumatic low-tech forms of communication. His works have been shown in over 300 exhibitions in more than 60 countries, including transmediale, ISEA, EMAF, SIGGRAPH, Ars Electronica Futurelab, V2_, IMPAKT, CYNETART, Manifesta and many more.
