Data Science & AI #11 - Building LLM Applications & Generative AI - November 9
Details
This event will be all about Building LLM applications and generative AI games! A big thank you to our host "inovex", an innovative IT Project House. They are located in Erlangen, Allee am Röthelheimpark 11. Please note the different location and city this time.
We will have exciting talks and our usual chitchat with drinks. This is your opportunity to meet other data science professionals from the Nuremberg area, sharpen your skills and exchange ideas with like-minded professionals.
Agenda:
- 17:30 Welcome with Lukas Spranger und Benjamin Linnik
- 18:00 Thomas Jonas & Phuong Mai Ma: How to build LLM applications with Haystack
- 19:00 Pascal Fecht: Master of Art Forgery: An AI generated game
- Open discussion and networking
More details below:
The field of Generative AI has witnessed tremendous growth in the past years. The technology landscape opens up many opportunities to integrate cutting-edge tools in our applications. Large Language Models (LLMs) are helpers for various tasks such as question-answering, content summarization and semantic search.
In this talk, we will dive into the practical principles of building LLM applications. Haystack is an open-source framework that allows you to build custom applications with the full potential of state-of-the-art LLMs. With its simplicity and flexibility, it can be used to store and query domain data. The core of the presentation is formed by hands-on-insights into the framework, where we will give an overview of the Haystack components and show how they work together. Further, we will also address challenges of state-of-the-art LLMs and discuss how to deal with them.
“Master of Art Forgery” is a browser game that Inovex has developed over the last few months. With the help of generative AI, players have to “forge” the given images as accurately as possible. The nice thing about it: they learn prompt engineering along the way! I want to talk about how we came up with the idea (keywords: product discovery and design thinking), which technologies we are using and what we are planning for the future.
---------------------------------
Thomas Jonas is a software engineer and data scientist currently pursuing a Master's degree in Computer Science.
Thomas holds a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science with a specialization in Data Science, which shows his interest in the data-driven world.
As a working student at inovex, he has actively contributed to various projects, focusing on the prototyping and implementation of chatbot assistance and the application of language models.
Phuong Mai Mai is a machine learning engineer at inovex and advises customers on the development of data-based products and AI solutions. Throughout the years, she has dealt with various NLP use cases and Chatbot architectures. Further, responsible and transparent software development is very important to her.
Pascal Fecht is a Software and Machine Learning Engineer from Karlsruhe passionate about AI, NLP, and software development. He studied Computer Science and Media at the University of Applied Sciences Karlsruhe and the Media University Stuttgart. Since 2019, Pascal is working at inovex in projects to solve problems with the help of recent advances in NLP and Generative AI.
