Say hi 👋 to Satyrn (Laura Summers)

In July 2026—100 years ago right??—Paul Everitt stood on stage at EuroPython and challenged the Python community to build an AI model that knew Python 3.15, in time for its October release. Somehow, we pulled it off.*

*well, sorta

That challenge became Satyrn, a new open source community exploring AI our way: smallish open models running locally, built by and for Python developers. We don’t want to be passive consumers of someone else’s AI future. We want to build our own, with tools that are local, right-sized, and designed around the way we want to work. I’ll share how Satyrn came together, what we’ve built and learned so far, and what’s working (and what isn’t). We’ll also explore how to get involved, whether you’re interested in models, agents, evals, education, design, or simply finding your people.

Sigstore 101 (Travis Hathaway)
In this talk, I introduce Sigstore attestation validation and how it's currently used in software supply chains to validate who/what created packaging artifacts we all use like wheel and conda files. I specifically focus on how the conda community is quickly moving towards enabling this security feature and take a look at how it works on PyPI too. I hope to leave everyone with a better appreciation on how we can all make a more secure packaging ecosystem for the future!

⚡️ Lightning talks
As always, we'll still have time for lightning talks (short 5 minute presentations). Please bring your ideas and inspirations with!
