Piyush Purang presents Algebraic Abstractions

"How Scala and its ecosystem is nicely placed to help express algebraic abstractions on the JVM. We will pick up a simple example and abstract it till we decide to stop. Along the way we will encounter Type classes, Higher Kinded Types, Semigroups, Monoids, property based testing etc. By the end of the talk you should be able to recognize what is an algebraic abstraction and why they are so important in programming especially in functional programming and distributed computing."

As usual we will start assembling at 18:30 and the talk will start around 19:15.
