Writing Black feminism with Stella Dadzie & Patricia Angoy
Details
Writing Black Feminism is a retrospective of Black feminist movements worldwide. For centuries, Black women have fought institutional racism and sexism two systems of oppression that have shaped societies and limited their opportunities and freedom.
Literature has been one of the key spaces for the expression and theorization of Black feminism. We will explore this through the book A Heap of a Mix Up written by one of the founders of the first British Afro-feminist movement : Stella Dadzie. She will be in conversation with educator and activist Patricia Angoy.
Together, we will take a closer look at the specific case of Black feminism in the UK and seek to answer the following question:
👉 What distinguishes Black feminist movements from other feminist movements?
