Über uns
Welcome to the Urbanature Community! 👋🏽
This is a space for local travelers, expats, and outdoor enthusiasts to connect face-to-face. Our mission is to break away from the daily grind and explore amazing places together, blending urban exploration with comfortable nature trails and scenic hikes.
Our European Network: We are a growing, vibrant community of explorers! We are currently running active day trips and hikes in Berlin, Dresden, Düsseldorf, and Paris, with Frankfurt launching very soon. We are also actively working to get our London and Munich chapters back on track!
### How Our Community Works
Our group is genuinely peer-led! Our active local guides are actually former participants who loved attending our trips so much that they stepped up to lead them for fun. Together, we organize two types of experiences:
- Local Day Trips & Hikes: Easily accessible weekend getaways starting right here in town. We actively prioritize using trains and public transit for these local routes to keep things sustainable, low-impact, and highly affordable (€10–€12 to support our local guides).
- Broader Travel Adventures: Unique, immersive itineraries across Europe and beyond. For destinations that require catching a flight, our focus shifts toward slow, mindful travel—supporting local economies, staying in community-centric lodging, and building deep cross-cultural connections.
- We Are Always Looking for New Guides! 📢 Our community thrives because of people like you. Even though we have active guides in place, we are always looking for more passionate travel lovers who want to lead fun weekend day walks or hikes. If you love exploring and want to give back to the local community, drop us a message! It’s a great way to essentially get paid to have fun—you won't get rich, but we will nominally cover your time and track costs so you can share your passion with a great group of people. Connect with us here on Meetup or through our website!
Whether you want to meet like-minded people on a local weekend hike or join a larger group journey, you are welcome here!
Stay Connected & Join the Community Conversation: To chat with fellow members, share photos from past trips, or get early updates on our upcoming schedule, join our community channels:

Golden Andalusia: Moorish Palaces, Mountains and Sea Caves
Berlin Brandenburg Airport, Melli-Beese-Ring 1, Schönefeld, BB, DESix days across southern Spain, from the Moorish palaces of Granada to a sea kayak under the Maro waterfall. We climb above the tree line in the Sierra Nevada, kayak the Costa del Sol, and end in historic Seville, where the Real Alcázar, one of the city’s great palaces, was used as a filming location for Game of Thrones.

#### 🌍WHY GO?
There is no better place to spend an autumn break than the Costa del Sol, the sunniest region of Spain. Late October is the ideal time to visit Andalusia. Daytime temperatures sit comfortably between 22°C and 28°C, the Mediterranean is still warm enough for swimming, and the dense summer crowds have finally gone home.
The amazing weather is just the start. What surprises most people is the dramatic landscape. The Sierra Nevada, mainland Spain’s highest mountain range, is just 45 minutes from Granada. This means we can hike at an altitude of 3,000 meters in the morning and be back in the city for tapas by evening. An hour south, the mountains plunge straight into the sea. The coastline east of Málaga is a protected stretch of cliffs and coves where we’ll kayak into sea caves beneath the Maro cliffs and swim under a waterfall that drops directly into the Mediterranean. Very few places in Europe let you experience both environments in the same week.
When it comes to food, Granada is one of the last cities in Spain where every drink arrives with a complimentary plate of food, naturally turning dinner into a relaxed crawl from bar to bar. One evening, we’ll head to the Albaicín for flamenco to experience it in an authentic, intimate tablao.
Woven through all of this is a history completely unlike the rest of Europe. Eight centuries of Moorish rule left behind masterpieces like the Alhambra in Granada and the Real Alcázar in Seville. These palaces are defined by open courtyards, running water channels, intricately carved plaster, and gardens designed specifically for shade and quiet.
Join us in the heart of Andalusia for an unforgettable autumn escape, complete with great company, authentic paella, and exceptional wine.
⭐WHAT ARE SOME OF THE HIGHLIGHTS?
The Alhambra Grounds & the Albaicín: We walk up through the old Moorish quarter on cobbles that have not changed much in five hundred years, into the free Alhambra grounds, and on to Mirador de San Miguel Alto for sunset. The palace on one side, the Sierra Nevada behind it, and the whole of Granada below.
Sierra Nevada High-Altitude Hike: Mainland Spain's highest mountain range, and a scenic loop above the tree line at over 2,500 metres. Roughly three hours at an easy pace with plenty of stops.
Sea Kayaking the Maro Cliffs: Three hours on the water along a protected stretch of the Costa del Sol, paddling into sea caves and stopping at a beach you cannot reach on foot. The highlight is the waterfall that drops straight off the cliff into the sea, and yes, you can swim under it.
The Real Alcázar & Seville Cathedral: A working royal palace built by Moorish craftsmen for Christian kings, with gardens that take an hour on their own. Next door, the largest Gothic cathedral in the world and the Giralda tower.
Granada's Free Tapas: Granada is one of the last cities in Spain where a drink still comes with a plate of food, no charge. We do a guided night tapas crawl, trying out all of the specialties Andalusia has to offer.
Traditional Flamenco: A first-row seat to a traditional flamenco show in a cave-style room in the Albaicín. Experience the soulful passion, fiery rhythm, and unforgettable intensity of live flamenco.📋TRIP DETAILS

WHY GO?
This hike brings together some of Potsdam’s most beautiful landscapes, architecture and memorable experiences. The route links a series of historic parks, each with its own character. From the rolling scenery of Park Babelsberg to the lakeside setting of Neuer Garten. Along the way, there’s a strong sense of history, from Prussian palaces to the Cold War story of the Glienicker Brücke.
A real highlight of the day is the alpaca walk. Spending time with these calm, good-natured animals adds a slower, more playful rhythm to the day and is sure to be a fond memory.
We also pause at the lakeside Brauerei Meierei im Neuen Garten, a former dairy turned brewery. With its traditional character, delicious house-brewed beers, and a beer garden overlooking the Jungfernsee, it’s an ideal place to relax and take it all in.
This day-trip is a chance to slow down and enjoy the company of some gentle alpacas as part of a varied, social day in the fresh outdoors with a group of curious explorers.
WHAT ARE SOME OF THE HIGHLIGHTS?
- Park Babelsberg: A UNESCO-listed landscape park with rolling hills, winding paths, and views over the Havel. Along the way, we pass the striking Flatowturm, one of the park’s best viewpoints, the historic Gerichtslaube, and the fairytale-style Schloss Babelsberg, once a summer residence for Prussian royalty.
- Wartmanns Café: A relaxed, picturesque café near the Teltow Canal, ideal for a mid-hike break. With BBQ food, drinks, homemade cakes, and a range of ice cream flavours, it’s an easy place to pause and recharge.
- Alpaca Walk: A unique 1.5-hour walk through parkland alongside calm alpacas. Set around the historic hunting grounds near Jagdschloss Glienicke and Glienicker Park, it’s a slower-paced, standout addition to the day.

- Brauerei Meierei im Neuen Garten: A lakeside brewery on the Jungfernsee with a spacious beer garden and wide views across the water. One of Potsdam’s most scenic spots to sit and enjoy a freshly brewed beer.
- Neuer Garten: A more formal royal park set along the lakeshore, with open lawns, tree-lined paths, and elegant architecture. We pass Cecilienhof Palace, where the Potsdam Conference shaped post-war Europe, and the neoclassical Marmorpalais, a lakeside residence built for Prussian kings — all set within peaceful surroundings.
