Dear Deep Learning community,

It is with great pleasure that we announce the 40th Vienna Deep Learning Meetup, which we celebrate with a special program in which you are cordially invited to actively participate.

With its extensive lineup of speakers, the upcoming GPU Technologies Conference 2021 (GTC21) will provide an excellent opportunity to recap on the current state and future trends of artificial intelligence. Speakers, none other than Yoshua Bengio, Yann LeCun, Geoffrey Hinton or Sepp Hochreiter will reflect their views on Artificial Intelligence and emergent topics, along with over 1400 other presentations during GTC.

At this size, it is likely that we will miss most of it. That's why we're calling on you - the Deep Learning Meetup community - to watch interesting talks and summarize the key take-away messages and present them at this virtual Meetup. Together, we will discuss current trends and draw conclusions about future directions in AI research.

This is the first time we will be hosting such a large collaborative Meetup. We very much welcome your input and would like to cover a wide range of AI topics, both from a technical and high-level perspective. Please get in touch if you are interested in participating (alexander.schindler@ait.ac.at, tom.lidy@gmail.com, rene@contextflow.com, jan.schlueter@ofai.at)

Our Agenda for this meetup:
18:30 - 18:40 Welcome & Announcements
18:40 - 19:00 Bengio/LeCun/Hinton on the future of DL/AI
19:00 - 20:00 GTC Talks and session reports by the VDLM Community
20:00 - 20:30 Discussing and identifying Hot Topics and Trends

Afterwards we'll have time for networking amongst the community in breakout groups. Have your snacks & drinks ready ;-)

We hope you can join us for this 40th Vienna Deep Learning Meetup!

Looking forward,
Alex, Tom, René, Jan
