Join us as we explore new adventures trekking through, "123 Great Hikes in Ventura County".
Whether you're a seasoned explorer or just starting, this group is for you.
We don't care what your marital status is, what your age is, or anything else.
(You must be at least 18 unless accompanied by an adult.) All that matters is that you're fun, positive, and enjoy hiking.
"123 Great Hikes in Ventura County", is not your typical hiking group.
Every path that you finish, you will receive a stone. Each time you complete 10 trails, you will receive a small gift to celebrate your accomplishment. The goal is to complete 123 hikes and receive a T-shirt with the words, "I have completed 123-Day Hikes in Ventura County”.
Currently, we offer 2 hikes a month. The regularity, dates, and times may change based on demand, size of the group, and what is happening in the world. For the most part, we will meet on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month, at 1 PM.
Note: We are following a book called, “Day Hikes Around Ventura County, 123 Great Hikes”. Hence, the name of our group. I have never been on any of these trails, most of us haven't. Typically, I will scout out these hikes in advance on my own to make sure they are safe, still in existence, and to help us prepare properly. There may be times when we deviate from the book as we learn more about local terrain and exciting adventures to take part in.
Finally, we are not just a group. We are an exclusive club of amazing people who like to hike and explore trails. That is valuable, wouldn't you agree? Also, if you did not know, meetup charges organizers $44.99 per month to run a group. Plus, the time, gas, research, and development it takes to sponsor a hike all costs money. We ask for a very small, monthly donation of $5, the equivalent of $2.50 per hike. (Which meetup take a percentage of) to help cover expenses to run our group.
**Everyone does receive one complimentary.**
Finally, none of the leads or members are professionals. If you sign up and choose to take part in our hikes and events, you and everyone you know, do so knowing the risks that are involved when hiking and will not hold any party of our group responsible for your participation if you should get, but not limited to, injured, stung, have an allergic reaction, dehydrated, etc.
