1. Post-Quantum Cryptography: A Practical Overview [in English]
Quantum computers threaten to break most modern asymmetric cryptography, including Diffie-Hellman key exchange, digital signatures, and RSA. While the timeline – and even the feasibility – of building a quantum computer capable of practical cryptanalysis remains uncertain, the potential impact demands proactive preparation and a transition to algorithms resilient to quantum attacks.

This talk provides a high-level overview of the risks quantum computers pose to existing cryptographic systems and examines the emerging classes of quantum-resistant algorithms currently undergoing standardization. We’ll also explore real-world deployments of post-quantum cryptographic schemes already in use.

No advanced math – just the essential concepts security professionals need to stay ahead.

Bio naszych spotkaniowo-sierpniowych bohaterów:

• Ruslan Kiyanchuk: software engineer and cryptographer with a background in leading the design and implementation of authentication systems, and security architecture for fintech startups. He has designed cryptographic protocols and conducted security audits of applied cryptography in production systems, focusing on correctness, robustness, and real-world constraints.

He holds an M.Sc. in Information and Communication Systems Security from Kharkiv National University of Radio Electronics (Ukraine). After graduation, he joined the Institute of Information Technologies, where he worked on the research and development of symmetric cryptographic algorithms. As part of a team of cryptographers, he contributed to the design of the Kalyna block cipher, which was officially adopted as Ukraine’s national encryption standard in 2015.
