Luke Stephenson on Weaver - the Scala test framework you have been waiting for
Details
After a long covid break, Melbourne Scala meetup returns. This month Luke Stephenson will be introducing the Weaver testing framework. If you haven't reevaluated Scala testing frameworks in the last couple of years, now is the time to as they have come a long way.
Title: Weaver - the Scala testing framework I've (and maybe you) have been waiting for
Description:
Ever felt like ScalaTest / Specs2 aren't great. Some of the issues with these older frameworks include:
- Complex frameworks & DSLs for asserting / matching on expected results
- No support for IO / Task / Zio
- Poor management of resources (eg kafka, DB containers) shared across tests
Weaver is an open source testing library that addresses some of these concerns. Lets go over it!
Audience level:
Beginner. Knowledge of Scala syntax will help.
Arrive from 5:45 for some nibbles and conversation, talks start around 6:30pm. As always, newcomers most welcome.
Light snacks and soft drinks will be provided. We are seeking an event sponsor to put on beer and pizza again; let us know if your organisation can help!
Hope to see you there,
-Luke
