Enter the parking lot at Fairchild Tropical Garden. Matheson free parking is a sharp left turn by that sign. DO NOT enter Matheson Hammock Park and Marina entrance.

This will be an approximate 3-hour activity, maybe up to 3 or 4 miles, and we’ll enjoy the scenery of this beautiful park.

One of Miami-Dade’s most treasured county parks, Matheson Hammock Park, sits on a peninsula that extends into Biscayne Bay. The park spans 630 acres of coastal Miami, just south of Coral Gables, and surrounds parts of Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden. It first opened to the public in 1930, after William J. Matheson donated prime waterfront property to Miami-Dade County. I recommend bringing a towel. We’ll likely wade in the water. If you desire to swim, bring your swimsuit and stay awhile.

Directions: GPS to 9610 Old Cutler Road, Coral Gables, FL 33156. Park in the lot right next to Fairchild Tropical Gardens. Parking is free.
