About Us: 55 plus Good Times
This Meetup Group is for people who are 55 and over, either single or partnered and although the majority of our members are single and in the 60’s age bracket, we are all young at heart and YES we all love ‘Good Times’.
Our group is purposely kept to a limited number of members as we believe in quality over quantity. Please be aware that we do not automatically accept every application nor do we have to provide a reason if you are declined.
We organise and/or post events such as dinners, lunches, dancing, live music and musical events, theatre/shows, dance classes, movie nights, quiz/trivia nights, festivals and special events, day trips and more.
We are looking for active members who want to regularly attend and enjoy a variety of events and as such, we have attendance requirements.
We do have Guidelines in place to keep our group running smoothly. Our aim is for all members to enjoy themselves in a safe and happy environment at our events and most of all we want you to have fun!
PLEASE READ OUR GUIDELINES BEFORE APPLYING.
New Members applying to join must adhere to the following:
A recent, CLEAR PROFILE PICTURE of yourself only (no other people/animals) is to be included and no sunglasses. This enables us to identify you when you attend events.
We require all members to provide their Given Name and their Last Name or initial/s in their PROFILE NAME.
Please be aware this is not a dating group. Also, any inappropriate behaviour of any kind will not be tolerated and you will be removed from the group with your membership fee (if paid) forfeited.
So that we know who you are we need to meet you.
Therefore a requirement is, that you will need to attend a HOSTED EVENT held within one month of you joining, (make sure that the event has an Event Host). If you do not attend a Hosted Event within one month of joining, you will be removed from the group. It is your responsibilityto ensure that you make yourself known to the Event Host at the attendance of your first Hosted Event.
A $5 membership fee will need to be paid to your Event Host when you attend your first Hosted Event within the one month of you joining. This payment will not be taken until we have met you. The $5 membership is then renewed each May.
The one month 'joining time frame' will allow you, the potential member to view our range of events and then ascertain if our group will be the “right fit” for you.
Please do NOT RSVP - YES (in the "Are you going?") for any event outside your one month joining period unless you have attended a Hosted Event & paid the $5 membership fee within your one month joining period.
IN RESPECT TO PARTICIPATION AND ATTENDANCE, THE FOLLOWING GUIDELINES APPLY.
We are a very active, social group and as such we require all members to attend a Hosted Event at least once every 3 months. If we find that you have not attended a Hosted Event within a 3 month period without a valid reason, then we will remove you from the group as being inactive.
Periodically, we will review all members’ attendances at events to ascertain active and regular, participation. If we believe that we are not meeting your event requirements, then we will advise you of your removal and thus enable you to pursue other opportunities best suited to your needs.
If you find that you will be absent for more than 3 months (either medical, extended holiday or personal reasons) please notify the Organiser so that we don't inadvertently remove you from the group.
At times a deposit or full payment maybe required to attend a particular event. This is to be paid to the Event Host as per the information stated for their event, which may also incur cancellation penalties if you are unable to attend the event. If the deposit/full payment is not paid and received within the designated time, the Event Host will have the right to remove you from this event. This will also allow someone on the waiting list to attend. No reminders will be given.
It is up to each member to monitor the events they are attending to ascertain if there are any updates or changes to those events.
ATTENDANCE OF GUESTS
Our Event Organisers/Hosts work very hard to ensure that our members enjoy a diverse range of events. Most of our events are strictly for members only. However, there are events/occasions whereby an Event Host will allow, at their discretion, the opportunity for a member to bring a guest. If an event is posted where there is no Host then that may indicate, (but not always) that a guest is able to attend.
RSVP's - "Are you going?" GUIDELINES
If you are NOT going to attend an event you DON'T need to RSVP - NO/X, in the "Are you going?" section, (we get it that you won't be going). Our Event Organisers/Hosts only need to know who is going, not who isn't.
You only use the RSVP - NO/X - if you are changing your original RSVP from YES, i.e. if you are no longer able to attend that event.
Please ensure that prior to RSVP'ing - YES, you are in fact able to attend the event.
Please answer all questions fully, on your application. If this is not done your application will not be considered and therefore declined.
