[Hard] Flash Weekend Snowy Sleep Late Hike – Old La Luz
Details
Portions of the trail will be covered with snow and ice. Please bring micro spikes or hiking boots/shoes with sturdy grip.
We'll do an afternoon ascent of the Old La Luz Trail (incl. the Crest Spur Trail) starting at the intersection of FR333 and the Drinking Fountain Trail 207. This is a challenging hike made more challenging by the trail conditions. Please only RSVP if you are familiar with the Old La Luz trail and are prepared to hike in winter conditions. This hike is categorized as hard because of the pace. Note that the starting location is NOT at the La Luz Trailhead parking lot.
Distance: 9.1 miles
Elevation gain: 4200 feet
⚠ The starting location is the Drinking Fountain Trail located off of FR 333. A map to this location can be found here: https://www.trailforks.com/trails/drinking-fountain/ and can also be seen here: https://www.trailforks.com/poi/120202/ There are two small parking lots on the east side of FR 333 and a third larger parking lot on the west side of FR 333 at this location. We will meet at the east parking lots.
Please contact me directly or post in the comments if you have questions.
With your RSVP you made a commitment: You signed up with the intent to go because you value your commitment to yourself and others. You are prepared to hike in changing conditions. You can address your needs around food, water, clothing, and any health needs that are unique to you. You are capable of returning to the starting point and going on about your life unassisted, but would rather participate in our community.
If you miss this one don't worry. You can join for Monday's Old La Luz Cardio hike starting from the same location and climbing to the base of the rock fall.
