There’s a Hole in the Sidewalk, Mapping Your Patterns, Choosing a New Path
Details
In this 8:30 Connection Circle session, we’ll use Portia Nelson’s “Autobiography in Five Short Chapters” as a simple framework for self-growth.
The poem breaks change into five clear stages, from falling into the same pattern again and again, to building awareness, to making better choices, and eventually creating a new default.
Together, we’ll identify what your “hole” looks like in real life, what triggers lead you there, and what helps you climb out faster when it happens.
We’ll also talk about the part that matters most, learning how to practice self-awareness without self-judgment, especially when you feel like you should be further along.
You’ll leave with practical tools to spot your warning signs earlier, interrupt the pattern in the moment, and take small, repeatable steps toward a different “street.”
What we’ll do:
- Break down the five stages and what they look like in everyday life
- Identify triggers, warning signs, and repeat loops
- Share personal insights in a supportive space
- Build a simple detour plan you can practice immediately
