What we're about

If you have got as far as reading this bio, we already know you are keen to try something different, you are attracted to spending time on the water or are just plain curious about Dragon Boating. You are certainly open to new adventure, which we can provide with the support of a team of people who will encourage you every step, or paddle of the way!

Are we right?

If so, our club members would love to meet you and offer you the opportunity to experience our amazing sport of dragon boating.

Absolutely no experience is required. The sessions are specifically developed for newcomers and led by experienced highly qualified coaches. All levels of fitness are catered for and sessions last for approximately 60mins.

Our club ACDC Dragon Fire is nearly 5 years old and has achieved a great deal in that short time, not just competitively. We are constantly growing, developing, and learning new skills as a team. We pride ourselves on the diversity and inclusivity that exists within our Club which massively contributes to our success.

If you try the sport and absolutely love it and us (to be honest there is much to love!) we have pathways to high performance which could see you paddling for the SA State Team and ultimately wearing the green and gold for Australia. If you are now thinking that’s sounds like a huge commitment, don’t panic! You will be in good company; we have both sports and recreational paddlers.

We offer 4 FREE introductory beginners’ sessions.

Our minimum age is 9 years of age, there is no upper limit. We have the equipment you just need to wear active wear and shoes you don’t mind getting splashed (thongs are ideal). Bring a bottle of water to drink and sun protection.

Our training sessions are -

Venue: Aquatic Reserve, Corner Old Port & Bower Roads, West Lakes

• Mondays - 6.15pm for 6.30 pm on the water

Venue: The Sailing Club, 1 Jenkins Street, Birkenhead

• Wednesdays - 6.15pm for 6.30pm on the water

• Saturdays - 8.15am for 8.30pm on the water

• Saturdays - 09.45am for 10.00am on the water - Beginners and Development session

So don’t be shy, come and check us out, we would love to meet you.

Please wear comfortable clothing that can get wet, including water shoes or thongs.

Shower & change-room facilities are available, so bring a change of clothes if you wish and, time permitting, we may go for coffee afterwards and you are most welcome.
