Migrating a legacy application – a tale as old as time, with Tim Covark

A familiar story – an application has been serving the business well for more than a decade, but is reaching the end of its life. Replacing it with something more modern is a fine line to walk – come and listen to where we got it right, and where it went wrong.

Crystal clear database sharding with Entity Framework Core, with Matt Astachnowicz

Multi-tenant architectures have always been quite good at creating a never-ending stream of problems for SaaS developers, whether that be maintaining data separation, keeping the system performant or meeting data sovereignty requirements. At Teamgage we needed a rock solid, highly customisable tool to handle our multi tenancy and routing of database requests, so we developed our own shard manager: Crystal. Using this tool we can easily handle all of our daily ops work like creating & updating tenants, deploying updates and applying database migrations. We would like to share some of our work with you to hopefully save you a few headaches too!
