Brainstorming is a popular technique that been around since the 1950s despite tons of evidence that it really doesn’t work as well as “quiet storming” followed by a meeting. Linda will share the latest neuroscience to back up her claim that we need a better way to brainstorm and offer a starting point to try your own experiments. The evidence shows that we can build on our current remote connections to make a change for the better in this common strategy.

Linda Rising is a speaker, author and consultant from the United States who has vast experience in telecommunications and avionics among others. Her specialities include Patterns, retrospectives, organizational change, Scrum and other agile processes. Linda is the author of numerous articles and books, for example: Design Patterns in Communications Software; The Pattern Almanac 2000; The Patterns Handbook: Techniques, Strategies, and Applications; Fearless Change: Patterns for Introducing New Ideas; and More Fearless Change: Strategies for Making Your Ideas Happen.

She has been keynote speaker at the Agile 2007 conference (“Are agilists the bonobos of software development?”), the OOP 2009 conference (“Who Do You Trust?”), the Agile testing days Berlin 2010 (“Deception and Estimation: How we fool ourselves”), at the GOTO Amsterdam 2014 conference (“Science or Stories?”), and at the European Testing Conference 2016 in Bucharest (“The Agile Mindset”).
