What we're about

The Amazon Web Services User Group (Adelaide) is a group dedicated to cloud services provided by Amazon. Because we are specific to Amazon Web Services (AWS), we can go deep into some of the technical services provided by AWS and get some really great insights into how their services work. If you want to put your application in the cloud and have already chosen AWS, or if you already have applications in the AWS cloud, then this is a great group to get helpful insights and advice from other group members.

The AWS User Group is not affiliated with any organisations and is independent from Amazon.

Serverless 201 - Rapidly Develop and Deploy a Serverless Backend

Needs a location

Hi All,

For our May event will be in-person at Stone & Chalk Launch Pad (usual spot), from 5.30pm, TUESDAY 24th May.

In this session Jassa will demonstrate (bring on demo-god roulette!) how to rapidly develop and deploy a serverless backend. We’ll then build a web application to interface with it. If you’re new to serverless stacks this session aims to demonstrate how quickly you can deploy a highly scalable, cost effective solution covering services like CloudFormation, DynamoDB, Lambda, API Gateway and Cognito.

Speaker Profile:
Jassa Amir-Lang is a co-founder at Katana Solutions, a product development house that specialises in the rapid development of tech solutions.

Martin will also give an update on the STM32L4 IoT board from the HW Device Library. Martin graduated from the University of Adelaide with a Bachelor of Electronic/Electrical Engineering back in 2020, specialising in biomedical applications and is currently a Hardware Engineer with Ultra Maritime.

Jetson Nano 2GB Developer Kit (available)
M5Stack Core2 ESP32 IoT Development Kit for AWS (in-use)
STM32L4 Discovery Kit IoT Node (in-use)
Senquip ORB (in-use)

If you'd like to borrow to experiment, message Andy on LinkedIn to reserve or pickup at the event.

For anyone looking to get AWS Certified, we'll have some Free Exam Vouchers to give away - these come with conditions as there are limited numbers and don't want committed folks missing out:
- be an Adelaide User Group regular (new or old :) )
- sit a free practice exam and share the score
- commit to sit the full exam within 3 months (limit of the voucher)

See you then,
Rick, Bridie, Steph and Andy
