This Meet-up is for those who enjoy cycling and who would like a casual bike ride as a group. Nothing too complicated or really strenous. The Gold Coast is a fantastic place to ride and lends itself to ride as a social event. I aim to set a ride once every 3-4 weeks. I'm not planning many hills and rides will be at a leisurely pace near the beach and on paths if possible. More suited to novice riders rather than racers. Either in the middle or at the end we will stop for coffee. You will need to have a helmet and a bike lock of some kind will be useful. I have a long chain and some locks for 2-3 bikes if necessary.
There are currently 3 Co-ordinators. Two live south of Burleigh. One of the co-ordinators lives in the north near Labrador.
We meet at the Norther end of the shared path beachside of the SLSC and ride to Lands End (about 12 kms) back to the Spit (about 13 kms) and return to Kurrawa ( about 12 kms). We have coffee/water/food.
We average around 20kph/you need pumped up tyres/basic repair equipment/helmet/lots of water for hydration and sunscreen.
We are safety conscious and want you to enjoy your ride.
There will be road riding between First Avenue Broadbeach and Cavil Av. The remainder is shared walking/bike paths.
From the Sheraton Mirage shared path you will have the option of riding on the road (very safe) or the Federation Walk track both up and back.
