  • Building cross-platform mobile apps with AngularJS and Trigger.IO

1st Presentation - AngularJS is a great framework for building web apps, but how well suited is it to building web apps ? Come along and here about: the experience using Angular to build a mobile web app for Android and iPhone. how to package a html5 mobile app up for the App / Play Stores with Trigger.IO - a commercial alternative to PhoneGap updating your app without resubmitting to the App / Play Stores. Speaker : John Scott, CTO Pizza.com.au 2nd Presentation - Metawidget (http://metawidget.org (http://metawidget.org/)) is a smart User Interface widget that populates itself, at runtime, with UI components to match the properties of your business objects. The problem of error-prone duplication between UI components and business objects is an issue common to almost all frameworks, even modern ones like AngularJS. As soon as you have to a) declare some JavaScript object to hold your data; b) separately declare some UI fields that map to that object - then you have the seeds of duplication. This grows rapidly worse the more fields and the more layers you add. Some intro videos here: http://metawidget.org/videos.php Metawidget is an attempt to address this common problem. It does so without introducing new technologies. It inspects your existing back-end architecture and creates widgets native to your existing front-end framework. Metawidget is a mature, Open Source project started 5 years ago. At the beginning of this year Metawidget made the jump to also being a pure, native AngularJS directive. Intro tutorial here: http://metawidget.org/doc/reference/en/html/ch01s02.html Speaker - Richard Kennard Snacks and refreshments will be served.

  • Writing useful and reusable directives

    Google Sydney

For our 2nd meetup we have a great talk planned on Directives. Title: Writing useful and reusable directives Speaker : Michael Hills - Posse.com (Sydney) Description: Angular has enabled rapid-development in many aspects of the posse.com (http://posse.com/) website. I'd like to share what has worked well for us, specifically the UI for adding and removing tags to and from a place. I will go through the code and demonstrate how to write directives and how to communicate between multiple directive-powered UI elements in a reusable way. Bio: I am a developer at Posse (one year) spending my days writing Java in the backend and HTML/LESS/JavaScript on the frontend. Previously I was in a completely different world working in embedded systems doing virtualisation for ARM-based mobile devices.
