What we're about

Our group is dedicated to the pastime of walking and exploring our region. Geelong based, our day walks will predominantly explore the area within a 2hour drive from Geelong. Weekend trips will venture further throughout Victoria - and possibly interstate.

Our aim is to build a group of likeminded outdoor enthusiasts who also enjoy the social aspect of walking with friends. Most of our walks will end with a drink at a local pub or coffee in a nearby cafe.

We subscribe to the 'leave no trace' philosophy, which means we take home all our rubbish - if you pack it in, you pack it out.

We do hikes of varying levels and each one could require different skills or abilities with the ultimate goal of having a fun and enjoyable experience. How strenuous and how much you are willing to push yourself on a hike is different for everyone but a general rule of thumb is 4-5 kilometres an hour. We aim to keep a reasonable pace but also enjoy our surroundings and the company of the group. Our group size is typically a maximum of 12 people. You must be a member of Bellarine Bushwalkers to walk with us and our minimum age requirement is 18. Our walks are not suitable for dogs or children.

It will be your responsibility to research each event, including thoroughly reading the host's description prior to RSVPing.

By signing up to Bellarine Bushwalkers you understand that you are attending all events at your own risk. Organisers of this group just organise the events and we bushwalk together as a group of friends. You are therefore responsible for your own safety and wellbeing at all times.

A couple of things to consider before joining us:

- You will be required to add a close up photo of only you so that you can be easily recognised. There will be no exceptions to this request and without a photo that fits our requirements you will not be accepted as a member of the group.

- If you RSVP to participate in a walk and do not turn up that will be considered a "no show". If you record 2 "no shows" you will be removed from the group. Not showing up for a walk without any attempt to contact the event organiser is not acceptable and is unfair to anyone who may be on the waitlist to attend a walk.

- Our walks are for members only. Members must be 18years and over. Children and dogs are not permitted to participate on our walks.

- A fee of $2 will apply to each walk to cover Meetup site costs/administration fees.
