Say a final goodbye to Wentworth Park greyhound racing. We'll get there a with a relaxed ride through the Inner West. Dinner afterwards at a nearby venue is an option.
MUST HAVE WORKING BIKE LIGHTS
The dogs are being booted out so this is a chance to see what you've missed out over the many years the greyhounds have been running.
FYI. Entry into Wentworth Park is usually free.
The ride will be unhurried and use bike paths but there will be some on-road riding and road traffic. Not suitable for beginners or inexperienced riders.
ROUTE - Meet at the square on Lackey St in Summer Hill at 5 pm for a 5.15 start. We'll go through back streets to Wentworth Park. Aiming to get to Wentworth Park about 6.15 pm-ish for the first race which usually starts around 6.30 or 7pm. The ride finishes at Wentworth Park. (Need a good bike lock).
DINNER - Stay for two races then those interested can head to dinner. Could go to the Fish Markets or Chinatown for dinner? DINNER VENUE SUGGESTIONS ARE WELCOME.
Usual conditions apply; a bike in good order, helmet, pump, tools, water, Opal card. Bring a good bike lock too.
Must have good, working bike lights and suggest you wear some reflective clothing. Bring warm layers as could be cool.

Gather at the fountain on Lackey St at Summer Hill at 8.30 for an 8.45 am start. For this almost 50klm sedate ride on mostly shared paths. There will be many pedestrians along the way.

We'll go through back streets to join the Cooks River path at Croydon Park heading west and then through Strathfield to Concord West station then head east along 'The Drive' and through the fields of the Dame Edith Walker Estate, south along the Concord Foreshore trail and through a few back streets to the Mortlake vehicle ferry. We'll go across the Parramatta river on the free ferry to Putney Point. Up the hill and along a few streets then onto shared paths. past Meadowbank heading west to the Silverwater Bridge, over the bridge then east through Wentworth Point, over the Bennelong Bridge to Rhodes, through Bicentennial Park and back onto the Cooks River path past Canterbury racecourse to the Yarning circle & Lang Road bridge, up the Hill past Dulwich Hill light rail stop onto the Greenway and return to our stating point at Summer Hill.

It's a about a 50 klm riverside meander with the ferry and a few hills esp. at Summer Hill and Putney Point.

There are bail out points along the way. inc. train and ferries at any of the wharves along the way.
Bring a spare tube, tools and pump to repair a flat tyre, helmet, water, sunblock, etc. And your Opal card if you want to bail out along the way.
Please do not come if you are feeling unwell.
We'll stop for coffee near Meadowbank ferry wharf.

Join the Balmain Bike Bus, run and led by "Climate Change Balmain-Rozelle" for a pleasant ride to Union Square Pyrmont via White Bay power station and the ANZAC bridge.
Two joining points:
Option 1
8am, meet at Loyalty Square, outside Woolies
Balmain departing at 8.10 am – and led through Balmain to White Bay Power Station.
Option 2
Meet at the Robert Street gate, White Bay Power Station at 8.10 for 8.20 departure.
The ride will continue over the Anzac Bridge to Union Square on Harris St, Pyrmont.
Some may then choose to ride on to other locations, others may have a coffee nearby or simply head home.

The Balmain Bike Bus happens every Wednesday from Loyalty Square.
After the ride things get flexible depending on the desires/needs of participants
that week - sometimes helping them to get to their destination/s, or sometimes stop for a coffee before heading off to work or to make the return journey home.
