What we're about

The Brisbane Running Club is designed with socially active urban professionals in mind. The club meets every Thursday at 6:00 PM at at the Ship Inn (just over the non-city side of the Goodwill Bridge) in Brisbane for a 5-8 kilometer run. Other runs are also organised - if you'd like to organise a run please contact us. Run routes are easy to follow. The runs are non-competitive, and runners will all be able to choose their own pace. Group members are encouraged to hit the selected bar (Ship Inn on a Thursday) after the run to socialize and enjoy a few drinks.

We will meet at the Milk Factory at 6:20 for a 6:30 start. We will run the old southbank parkrun. For those that are thirsty and hungry, join us afterwards for a drink and the Monday night $10 burger special.

Track Tuesday sessions - Running faster

The University of Queensland

• What we'll do LOCATION - Uni of Qld, athletics track, Sir Fred Schonnel Drive, St Lucia Designed as a hard running session, using repetitions of high intensity and rest, focusing on 5, 10 and 21km goals. So that everyone runs together groups run different distances in the same time (e.g. 300m, 350m and 400m in 90 seconds) and have the same rest (e.g. 1 min). You can sit out an effort if you need to do so and then rejoin as you need. Runners vary from around 17:30 to 30min pace for 5km, but everyone runs the same set together. Each warm up focuses on improving technique, turning "joggers" into "runners". Please note - if you have questions there may be a delay in my responding (all day at work on a computer means not wanting to spend all night on them). The best way to ask questions is to come on Tuesday night • What to bring Water bottle, stop watch and remember running clothes ;-). $5 for lights (if office is open) and a small donation to go to the Children's Cancer Institute Regular runners rarely RSVP, we average 12 to 15 weekly, with up to 25 being a big night. The session is shared with the Brisbane Triathlon Club. • Important to know Meet at track, bottom of the grandstand, next to the tunnel to toilets / change rooms. It takes a few weeks to adapt to high intensity running, so running easier the first few weeks is important. You tend to use your lower calf muscles much more than in slower running so expect to be sore the new few days. Toilets and change rooms are available. Ample parking (paid) is close by.

The route takes us down to dockside, along the river past the Story Bridge and along the river cliffs, through Southbank to the Go Between bridge. We then cross over and run along the Bicentenial bikeway through the botanical gardens, Riverside and back over the Story bridge back to pub along Main St. Rehydrate with a beer and re-energize with a $12.00 chicken parmi. Our resident super chef, Lachy, gives it his tick of approval. The full run is approximately 15.5km, however, there is the shorter option of turning right over the Goodwill bridge which chops off about five km.

Group run from the Ship Inn at South Bank, meet for drinks afterwards

5-8km run starting from The Ship Inn and following one of the tracks around Southbank. We catch up for a drink afterwards. Everyone runs at their own pace, but there will normally be 2-3 people running together. Any pace welcome. We have people that run 7min/km and people that run 4min/km.
