What we're about
A Sydney-based walking group, of people who appreciate the sights, sounds, smells and touch of native Australian bushland, in the absence of human speech.
We walk in silence and stop at certain points. During these short breaks, we stand still and listen to the birds, insects, water cascading over the ground and wind rustling the leaves of the trees.
The pace varies from a steady climb up rocky trails to a moderate stroll on flat tracks. We are not in a hurry and the journey is our focus, not the destination.
Our goal is not fast walking or endurance training. While a reasonable degree of fitness and agility is required for most walks, our prime rationale is savouring the peace in nature with all our senses.
The Japanese call this 'Shinrin Yoku (http://www.shinrin-yoku.org/video.html)' and Western healthcare professionals consider it beneficial.
For the integrity of the group, a clear, recent and unobscured photo of your face (only) is a mandatory prerequisite. Annual membership of $8.80 is payable within 48 hours of your application being accepted.
