What we'll do
There’s a new meme gaining ground in the identity world: self-sovereignty. The idea that a user should control their digital identity and that only they should be able to create, update and delete them. How would this work in practice? Would consumers want to do this? And how would it impact the way we interact with business, government and each other online? How much of the drive for self-sovereign solutions is in reality a reaction to the inability of banks and other to provide a practical, working infrastructure and how much of it is a new and better vision for post-modern identity? There’s only one way to find out: meetup!
David Birch, author of “Identity is the New Money”, will give a short talk setting out the key concepts around self-sovereign digital identity and then moderate a panel discussion with (we hope) audience participation from many perspectives.
Chair: Dave Birch is an author, advisor and commentator on digital financial services.
Panel: Victoria Richardson (AusPayNet), Katryna Dow (MeeCo), Rick Wingfield (Australia Post Accelerate) and Emma Poposka (BronTech)
We'll be following the usual structure:
6:00 - 6:30 - Networking
6:30 - 7:00pm - David Birch: Intro to Self-Sovereign Digital Identity
7:00 - 7:45pm - Panel Discussion w audience Q+A throughout.
7:45 - 8:30 - Networking
As always, we’ll provide some drinks and nibbles. And as always, please spread the word to any other digital identity enthusiasts within your network.
It’s going to be a cracker, to kick us off for 2018!
We’ll see you there!
