What’s the craic my fellow DevOps denizens?

Another month another DevOoooops meetup. This month we're back at Bankwest, which means a) you must RSVP by Wednesday 26th 12pm, and b) you must include your last name in your meetup profile (easiest to do this on desktop).

We've got 2 talks sorted this month, so here's the low down:

  1. Michelle Sandford - DevOps: A Twitter Story

Blurb: They say if it's on the internet, it must be true. So in this weeks session we'll explore what the twitter is tweeting about DevOps. I will trawl the streams, finding the best lessons, quotes and links and share the gold I have found. Get the latest thinking and the snarkiest retorts. It will be DevOps seen through the ideas of social media. Not a session for the faint of heart.

Bio: Tedx Speaker, ACS WA Chairman, Microsoftie and one of MCV's 30 Most Influential Women in Games. Michelle is a Digital Evangelist who acts as a connector between technology and the world. She advocates for STEM, the Games Industry and Developers. She has presented at around 50 Conferences and Events around the world on Technology, Social Media, Diversity and Gaming. Michelle connects people who have problems with the solutions, knowledge, and technology they need to succeed.

  1. Josh Michielsen - DevOps is dead, long live DevOps

Blurb: DevOps began as a philosophy. A technological way of life that valued inclusion and collaboration in order to breakdown organisation barriers for the betterment of ops and dev engineers, and ultimately the bottom line of the company they work for. So where did it all go sideways? Is the traditional meaning of DevOps dead before it even had a chance to thrive? In this talk Josh will talk briefly about the history of DevOps, and the landscape as it stands today, and what the future holds for the philosophy-turned-buzzword we call DevOps.

Bio: Josh Michielsen is an IT professional, software developer, and DevOps practitioner with over 10 years of industry experience and a keen interest in computational science. He specialises in the areas of software development, infrastructure automation, continuous delivery, and cloud operations. You'll currently find him enabling product teams to innovate and deliver software faster with greater reliably at Bankwest, where he works as a (Senior) DevOps Engineer within the Cloud Native Platform.
