What we’re about
Meet other local hiking enthusiasts as a group of friends exploring, learning, and having fun on the trail and occasionally other ways. Besides hiking we sometimes do: snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, camping, biking, horseback riding, whitewater rafting, etc.
We range all over CT, central to western MA, and sometimes southern NY. Occasionally we make trips further out typically to central and northern NY, VT, NH, and ME.
Upcoming events (4+)
See all- After work hike, Heublin Tower-Simsbury CT sideTalcott Mountain State Park, Bloomfield, CT
I am running my after work hikes again. Weather is causing me to post closer to the hike date. Please know that these events are all levels-beginners welcome. The hikes are shorter and less technical from my normal weekend hikes. We finish before 8:00 p.m.
We will head up Heublin Tower from the Simsbury side. You are traveling to rt. 185 in Simsbury and head into Talcott Mt. State Park. Turn into the road with the park sign and drive up the hill to the trail head. There is a port-o-potty here.
This hike takes you up a challenging, but well traveled steep slope to the ridge facing west. Don't be surprised if small children run past you. Its a brief climb that gets us up on the ridge. We will travel to the tower and catch the beginning of the sunset.
The round trip distance is 2.5 miles. Please wear durable shoes. I suggest a small pack with water, snacks, bug spray, whistle, small med kit. If you have a headlamp or flash light, please bring it.
Please no children. Dogs on leashes.
