About us

The Instructional Design & eLearning Meetup, is a community for people working in learning and development (L&D) who want to learn from other people doing the work.

For more than 12 years, the group has brought Sydney's L&D community together to share what we're working on, learn from each other's experiences and meet other people in the profession.

After trying a different format and then taking a pause, we're going back to our roots: practitioners sharing with practitioners.

There's a lot changing in our work right now. This is a chance to get outside our own organisations, hear different perspectives and learn from what other L&D people are trying, questioning and figuring out.

Meetups will vary. You might hear someone share something they've tried, take us behind the scenes of a piece of work, talk about something that didn't go to plan, or bring a question or challenge for the room to explore. There'll also always be time to meet people and have a good conversation.
And this is a community, so we need you to be part of it to help it thrive.

Have something to share? It doesn't need to be a polished presentation! We'd love to hear about work, ideas and experiences others could learn from.
Have a topic you want us to explore? Tell us what's on your mind or what you'd like to hear other practitioners talk about.
Have a space we could use? We're always looking for Sydney organisations willing to host a Meetup.

The topics, speakers and spaces will be shaped by the community.
And, as always, we'll aim to keep our Meetups free wherever we can.

The original IDeL meetup:
For everyone interested in instructional design, improving training and creating great learning, whether that's eLearning, face-to-face or blended.
Participants range from seasoned industry leaders to recent graduates. Members' roles include instructional designers, trainers, eLearning developers, technical authors, training managers and heads of talent development. Individuals include freelancers, team members from some of Australia's top training companies, solo training practitioners at local companies up to internal team members from multinational corporations.
Come to learn more about a specific topic each meeting. Stay to enjoy networking and meeting others interested in improving training and learning. The format, topics and venue constantly vary. If you don't find what you're looking for then please feel free to suggest a MeetUp we should run.
We're always looking for spaces to host groups as small as 30, and as large as 80, so if you have a space that could host, we'd love to talk!
Our Meetups always aim to run for free when possible.
