The mission of the Colorado Renewable Energy Society (CRES) is to lead Colorado to an energy efficient and renewable energy economy through education, policy advancement, and economic development.
The Jefferson County chapter of CRES serves all of Jefferson County in Colorado, including Golden and the Denver suburbs. JCRES works to increase awareness of the economic and environmental benefits of renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies. We host meetings and events to help members and the public connect with the ideas and people that make renewable energy and energy efficiency happen.

Solar Facts vs Fiction: Materials, Energy, Toxicity & Waste

Solar deployment is expanding rapidly across the U.S. and solar module technology has evolved rapidly in the last decade. Solar module researchers from the National Lab of the Rockies (prev. NREL) will talk through recent changes to PV module composition, end-of-life options, and mythbust common misconceptions. Silvana Ovaitt and Heather Mirletz will offer you a shiny new understanding of the materials and energy costs to manufacture them and present the current state of solar module sustainability.
