Little River Picnic Area & Walk-in Campground
Hey Mafsters, Start the first day of Summer by joining us on a hike in the Brisbane Ranges (approx 1hour 20min drive from Melbourne). Heard great things about this hike but haven't done it before. I've downloaded the GPX file of the route to follow as a back-up (if anyone wants I can send them the GPX file as well). Basically we'll start at Little River Picnic Area, we follow the Burchell Trail South. We then leave the Burchell Trail and follow the creek (with many creek crossings, rock hopping etc), till we hit the Echinda Track. We follow the track till it takes us back to McLeans Hwy (which is not a real Hwy), then take McLeans Hwy back to the Picnic Area. • WHERE: Brisbane Ranges (approximately 1 hour 20min drive from Melb CBD) • GETTING THERE: We can organise carpooling for those who don't drive • STARTING and END POINT: Little River Picnic Area • STARTING TIME: 10:00AM (Please note phone reception can be difficult there) • DURATION: approx 3-4 hours return • GRADE: Grade 4/Medium-Difficult Grade circuit (medium level of physical endurance/fitness will be required) • WHAT TO BRING: Comfortable appropriate footwear; min 2L water; food; sunscreen/hat etc; appropriate clothes (depending on the weather); Please note this meetup will be dependent on the weather
BOOKINGS:- Please note that bookings can only be made via the TryBooking website:- https://www.trybooking.com/BGFRQ Also check out the facebook event page:- https://www.facebook.com/events/2238116386487125/ Or the Yoga Ying Melbourne website:- http://www.yogaying.com.au EVENT DETAILS:- Hello lovelies, Join me for the next session of Yoga Speed Dating for Charity, which launched in June of this year. We have raised a total of $489 to date. This upcoming session, funds are going to Asylum Seeker Resource Centre (ASRC) and Edgar's Mission, which is a farm animal rescue sanctuary. You can choose where your portion of the profit goes, on the evening. Tickets are $37, or book in by Sunday 24th November for $30 early bird tickets. The idea is to combine exercise/well-being, social connection and giving back in the one event. Please join me if one or more of these things appeal to you. The evening starts at 5:30pm, please aim to arrive 5-10 minutes early to settle in. Activities include group icebreakers and games, small group poses, a rotation of partner poses, eye gazing meditation (if there's time) and group relaxation. This will be followed by Chai, some vegan sweets and time to mingle. There will be the opportunity to go out to dinner together in a group after the event, or you may wish to ask your preferred boy/girl out to dinner. Being funky Fitzroy, there are lots of options at our fingertips. This is being run on a Friday evening and I realise many may be coming straight from work. Ideally bring/wear clothes that you can easily move in. Change rooms are available and I imagine shorts/leggings and a t-shirt will suffice by that time of year. Mats and blankets are provided. No prior experience in yoga is necessary, nor are you expected to be flexible. However, you are assumed to be comfortable with a level of physical touch, as we will be linking hands and supporting each other in postures. It is also expected that all participants will be respectful of others and their own bodies. Looking forward having fun and raising money for some great causes together! Ying
Join us for an alcohol free New Year's Eve. Our inaugural MAFs NYE party last year was a big success. This year has a 75% chance of being even better. Make new friends for the new year, or hang with your MAF friends that you met during the year. Kissing optional. Fun guaranteed. Venue: Shrine of Rememberance, St Kilda Road, Melbourne (same as spot as last year, but we will pick a spot that is better lit this time). It has a great view of the fireworks, toilets nearby, and is easy enough to reach by public transport without being overcrowded. Activities: Bring a frisbee, ball, hacky-sac, or anything fun. Bring a picnic blanket and chat with people. It's a friendly group and lots of us are here to make new friends so don't be nervous if it's your first time. Fireworks at midnight. Food: BYO drinks & snacks. Dress code: Dress fun! Dress like you. Weather: TBA. Suggestions welcome. Public Transport: Public transport is free between 6pm & 6am on New Year's Eve. More details to come! Say goodbye to the decade that gave us Uptown Funk, Gangnam Style & Netflix, and welcome the decade that will give us a robot in every house, driverless cars, the first woman on Mars & digital bellybuttons.
