MAKE THE WEB FASTER! by Robert Boedigheimer

This session demonstrates practical techniques that drop a web page's size from almost 3MB to 143K, and load time from 6 seconds to less than a second, while looking the same! Review tools that validate and describe performance best practices. Explore how to defer resource requests, load resources asynchronously, and pre-fetch critical resources. Many other performance improvements will be discussed, which can reduce response time while also boosting the scalability and reliability of your site. Learn the techniques that can have the largest impact on web performance with the least amount of work.

Robert works for Schwan's Home Delivery providing business solutions with web technologies. He is a Microsoft MVP, a Progress Ninja (Fiddler), an ASPInsider, a Pluralsight author, and a 3rd degree black belt in TaeKwon Do. Robert regularly speaks at national and international events.

KEDA, THE KUBERNETES EVENT DRIVEN AUTOSCALER by Emad Alashi

Kubernetes provides a built-in auto-scaling capability, but it is limited to metrics internal to the cluster, and is quite complex to extend. KEDA comes in to fill this gap. It allows scaling workloads based on metrics that are outside of the cluster, e.g. the length of a message queue.
In this session we will learn what KEDA is, how it works, and how we can use it to scale your Kubernetes workloads.

Emad Alashi is a software developer whose main interest is in Web Development, Software Architecture, Software Management, and the human interaction caught in between.

He has been working with Azure since its early days. His focus has been specifically on modern architecture driven by the power of the cloud, utilising the right solution with the right services for the right problem, from Serverless and FaaS, to containers and Kubernetes.
He presents in many events and conferences, including Microsoft Ignite Australia, NDC Sydney, and in local user groups and code camps like Vic.Net, Azure Meetup, Alt.Net.

Emad is 4-times ASP.NET MVP, and currently works as a Lead Consultant at Telstra Purple.
