Speaker 2: Bahman Nikkhahan
Talk: Bring your legacy .Net application to Kubernetes
Not everyone wants to bring a legacy .Net application hosted on a VM to Kubernetes. There may be legacy applications that are better to be hosted on VMs. However, transforming your infrastructure can be a step forward to upgrade your legacy stack and you can benefit from many features that a container orchestration tool like Kubernetes can give you. This talk is about my recent experience in hosting a legacy single-tenant .Net application in Kubernetes. This legacy application is a clinical manager tool that is used in more than 200 aged care providers in Australia and has the largest market share in Australia's aged care market. We used Windows Containers in Azure Kubernetes Services to host the application. We faced many challenges along our way and I would like to share our experience and the lessons that we learned. You may want to do the same thing and bring your legacy application to Kubernetes. In that case, this talk can give you an idea about any potential issue that you may face and what are steps which you need to take.
