Following last months intro to bytecode & classloading, and the lower levels of the JVM, we have another talk on how the JVM optimises bytecode at runtime through the use of Hotspot and JIT.

JVM Performance Mystic Arts - Suken Shah

We’ll dive into the mystic arts used by Java to gain significant performance improvements. Particularly into how Java's dynamic compilers (C1 and C2) work, optimizing our code and transitioning into different stages based on its profile. We'll also look at some of the primitive, complex and aggressive optimization techniques used by Java. Travel to a different realm of Java performance, Dr Strange style, to defeat the monster that is poor Java performance.

Bio

Suken has been pretending to be a good java engineer for last 12 years. He is a big fan of Dr Who and has a floating TARDIS at his desk. One day he hopes to use the TARDIS and travel back in time to fix all file streams that he left open in his code. He has worked in all corners of the Java development universe, including developing swing apps real-time mission critical systems, and web enterprise systems. These days he works as full stack developer and AWS DevOps consultant.
