Newcastle Bushwalks & Getaways

LOW TIDE. We will need to start this walk at 8.00am to coincide with low tide at 8.30am. This should allow us to walk through Ghosties Cave, if it hasn't been completely washed out by recent high tides.

BEACH & BUSH WALK. This is an easy 8km walk that will take us about 3 hours to complete. We will start the walk at Catherine Hill Bay Surf Club and walk to Hales Bluff, Moonee Head, Moonee Beach, Deep Cave Bay, Flat Rocks Point and Ghosties Beach.

AFTER WALK. Food and drinks at Catherine Hill Bay Hotel.

WHAT TO BRING. Please wear good bushwalking shoes and bring a back pack, rain jacket, hat, sunscreen, first aid kit, snack food and 1.5L water.

SAFETY WARNING. There are dangerous cliffs, slippery rocks and crumbling edges on this walk. Please take care not to walk close to cliff edges and risk serious injuries.

CAVES BEACH CAVES. If you would like to check out the caves at Caves Beach Surf Club, it is low tide at 7.55am, which means that you would have to get there by 8.00am. Please Note. We are starting the walk 8.30am at the corner of Spoon Rocks Road and Sea Eagle Crescent.

BEACH & BUSH WALK. Come and join us for a medium difficulty 9km bush walk from Caves Beach to Shark Hole, via Spoon Rocks Lookout, Quarries Head and Pinny Beach. We will start our walk at 8.00am and have a 15 minute break at Shark Hole and get back to Caves Beach by 11.00am.

SAFETY WARNING. Please stay away from crumbling cliff edges and be very careful about walking on wet and slippery rocks.

WHAT TO BRING. Please wear good bushwalking shoes and bring a hat, sunscreen, snack food, rain jacket, first aid kit and 1.5L water.

ITINERARY. Sunday 14th. Fly to Adelaide. Pick up 12 seater minibus. Drive to Broken Hill. Visit art galleries and museums and Sculptures in the Desert. Monday 15th. Silverton art galleries, pub lunch and silver mine tour. Tuesday 16th. Broken Hill art galleries and museums. Wednesday 17th. Drive to Mildura. Gem & Jewellery Shop, wine tasting. Thursday 18th. Drive to Mungo National Park. Mungo Man and Walls of China. Aboriginal cultural experience. Friday 19th. Drive to Angaston via small outback towns. Visit Yalumba Winery. Saturday 20th. Visit Barossa Sculpture Park. Visit Wolf Blass and Seppeltsfield Wineries. Sunday 21st. Visit Maggie Beer's Farm & Penfolds Winery. Drive back to Adelaide. Fly back to Sydney.

OUTBACK TOURS. We will book tours at Silverton and Mungo NP. Both tours will cost $85pp. Please pay Chris for tours asap, as we will have to book and pay for tours well in advance.

18/9. MUNGO NP. Walls of China. Aboriginal Guided Tour. $50pp.

ACCOMMODATION. We have booked good quality single and twin share motel rooms at Broken Hill, Mildura and Nuriootpa. Argent Motel, Broken Hill. Sandors Motel, Mildura. Vine Inn Barossa, Nuriootpa.

HOLIDAY COST. Approx. $1850 per person, including return flights, 7 nights motel accommodation, 8 days minibus hire, fuel and vehicle insurance. If you would prefer your own room, you will have to pay an extra $500 for single rooms.

PAYMENT. Please pay $750 deposit by the 31st August. Your $1100 or $1600 balance won't be due for payment until the 30th June 2025.

SEALINK FERRY. Depart Cape Jervis 3.00pm 9th November. Depart Penneshaw 10.00am 13th November.

HOLIDAY ITINERARY. We will fly to Adelaide, pick up minibus at 9.00am, get to Victor Harbour by 11.00am and get the 3.00pm Sealink Ferry to Kangaroo Island. We will be staying in good quality 2 bedroom apartments at Penneshaw and Kingscote and will have plenty of time to explore Kangaroo Island and go for sight-seeing trips and bushwalks at Flinders Chase National Park. On the way back to Adelaide, we will drive to D'Arenberg Winery, McLaren Vale and Hahndorf in the Adelaide Hills.

ACTIVITIES. We will be sight-seeing, bushwalking and visiting lots of unique places around Kangaroo Island, including Cape Willoughby Lighthouse, Dudley Wine Cellars, False Cape Winery, Seal Bay Sanctuary, Flinders Chase NP, Remarkable Rocks, Admirals Arch, Stokes Bay, Cliffords Honey Farm, Emu Ridge Eucalyptus Distillery, American River Oyster Farm, Emu Bay Lavender Farm, Bay of Shoals Winery, KI Spirits, Island Beehive, Kingscote shops, Museum and Art Galleries.

OPTIONAL TOURS. Seal Bay Sanctuary, Hanson Bay Wildlife Sanctuary, Kangaroo Island Marine Adventures and Raptor Domain.

HOLIDAY COST. $1650 for twin share rooms. $1950 for single rooms.
