Cyber Security stories online.

NCSG September 2020 Meetup, Newcastle, NSW.

“If A Technological Feat Is Possible, Humankind Will Do It. Almost As If It's Wired Into The Core Of Our Being.” - Major Kusanagi

This month we’re discussing cybersecurity in pop culture, books & movies. Put another way, “what’s your favourite movie” & while we’re there “what is your mother’s maiden name”. Please leave a comment & I promise I wont reset any passwords <3 :)

But more to the point, I know few people who weren’t first inspired by ideas about cyber, before they came to be in cyber related roles. Now that’s not to see say that I know enough people to determine a universal. Nonono, maybe. More so, it’s that often we’re inspired by stories & ideas before we reach high resolution understandings about concepts & specific disciplines. In many cases these ideas & stories have been conveyed to us in movies & books that we’ve read or watched.

So come along and share some of the movies or books you’ve read or watched that inspired some part of your motivations to get into cyber security. We’re talking mind melters, neo “woah” tier content &/or wondering if androids dream of electric sheep.

This month we will look at the following questions to animate our discussions.

Q: What is your favourite book or movie?

Q: What is your mother’s maiden name?

Q: How did these ideas help animate or motivate your interest in actual cyber security literature?

Location: Online - Zoom, please RSVP to see link.

Date: 24th of September

Time: 18:30 until 20:00

Presenter: N.A - Open discussion
