What we’re about

This Meetup is for the Pennsylvania Chapters and affiliated organizations of the North Country National Scenic Trail to invite people to hike the trail with them in Pennsylvania, and to invite NCT enthusiasts to the meetings, trail work sessions, outreach events, and trail-related social activities that they plan. All are welcome to join in.
Although the Meetup is geographically based in Clarion, about in the center of the state's trail range, volunteers from the Allegheny National Forest, Clarion, Butler, and Wampum NCTA chapters, as well as the Davis Hollow Cabin at Moraine, the Butler Outdoor Club, and the Rachel Carson Trails Conservancy will all be posting information about their planned activities.
Three hundred miles of the North Country National Scenic Trail wind their way through Pennsylvania, from the New York to the Ohio borders. You can find a good general description of the route of the NCT through the state, as well as links to maps and the chapters' websites here on the NCTA's Pennsylvania page https://northcountrytrail.org/trail/states/pennsylvania/

ANF Chapter - December Hike to Rock City – Rt 948
Location not specified yetJoin us for a late fall hike traveling north from the Rt 948 trailhead up the lovely Cherry Run valley to an impressive rock city. We’ll be able to spend some time relaxing or playing in the rock city and then head back to the trailhead or continue on to the Tionesta Scenic Area.
Our meeting time is 10 AM at the Rt 948 Cherry Run Trailhead. The Trailhead is located about 3 miles SE of the intersection of Rt 666 and Rt 948. Look for the sign to tell you to turn off Rt 948 to get to the NCT trail head, GPS coordinates 41.63448 -78.99768. (These coords can be put in the Google Map search engine.) You can also follow this link, https://arcg.is/1euX9e , to the spot on the NCTA interactive map or https://bit.ly/42OBmaI on Google Maps.
It is about 4.8 miles to go to the rock city and back or 10.2 miles to go through the Tionesta Scenic Area to FR 133E and back. We’ll also stop at the Cherry Run Shelter. The length of the hike can be adjusted based on the desires of the participants.
Please come prepared for the hike dressed in appropriate layers for the weather, and carrying your own food and water. Friendly dogs are welcome. We hope to see you down the trail.1 attendee
