The Internet and digital tools have changed the way entrepreneurs set up their businesses and new business models have emerged.

When Linux out-competed Microsoft it was a community-based product (peer-production) being superior to a product of a big technology company. Can this be done in other industries?

Can it be done in physical product markets? This talk will go through a few different aspects of the digital economy and what atoms can learn from bits.

Peter (https://www.linkedin.com/in/peterosvensson/)is a policy entrepreneur and innovation expert. He has co-developed the Open Innovation Program at the Swedish Innovation Agency (Vinnova (https://www.vinnova.se/en/)). Prior to that he managed Forum for Innovation Management, an exclusive innovation policy network in Stockholm within a private foundation.

Peter has also worked for an early-stage venture capital firm, and managed one of Sweden’s most successful business incubators.

Peter holds a Ph.D. in innovation studies from Linköping University (https://liu.se/en). He has been visiting researcher at Stanford and MIT. His research interests are the sources of innovation, innovation processes and how digital technologies transform industries.

THE VENUE

The Australian Catholic University (ACU) (http://www.acu.edu.au/collaborateplus) holds a leadership position in education research and innovation.

They offer a number of education opportunities around innovation and entrepreneurship, and in 2017 launched ACU Collaborate Plus (http://www.acu.edu.au/collaborateplus), ACU’s multidisciplinary innovation space for startups and small-medium sized enterprises (SMEs).

The North Sydney space provides a flexible, creative and inclusive area for students, staff, alumni, startups and SMEs who are working on an innovative startup, project or business idea. And is currently available at no fee! The project is supported by NSW Department of Industry’s Boosting Business Innovation grants.
