  • Christmas Meetup (December 2019)

Details About this Meetup --- Tuesday december 17th we organize the one and only Christmas PHP.frl Meetup in Leeuwarden! Let's end the year in style with a get together. Want to learn more about Symfony 4 based content management systems? Have questions for experts in the field? Just looking for a nice meetup with lots of kerstkransjes? Join us! About the speaker (Bob den Otter) --- Bob den Otter is the founder of web development agency Two Kings, in the Hague. At Two Kings, Bob and his colleagues develop websites and web applications using a number of different tools. One of these tools is Bolt, of which Bob is the lead developer. In his spare time, Bob likes reading books, playing games and going to festivals. Talk (Bolt 4 - A modern CMS for the future) --- Bolt is a CMS that strives to make managing your content as pleasant and straightforward as possible. Bolt aims to do this for editors, implementors and developers alike. The upcoming version 4 is built on Symfony 4, API platform and Doctrine, so it will have modern features to build both decoupled and “traditional” sites. In this talk, Bob will focus mostly on the developers who need a better solution to deliver a CMS to their clients. After a brief introduction on the history of Bolt (mainly the move from Silex to Symfony 4), Bob will show you how to get up and running with Bolt, and showcase some of the features to help you efficiently build websites and how to configure, extend and adapt the system using the Symfony skills you already have. Schedule --- - 19.00 / Walk in (and kerstransjes) - 19.30 / Welcome (and kerstkransjes) - 19.35 / Talk: Bolt 4 - A modern CMS for the future (and kerstkransjes) - 20.30 / Show (off) your project 2019 - 20.45 / Christmas gift raffle - 21.00 / Closing and social (maybe some more kerstkransjes) Location --- NoardCode Hortensiastraat[masked] HD Leeuwarden

  • Monthly Meetup (November 2019)

Details About this Meetup --- Tuesday november 19th we organize a new PHP.frl Meetup in Leeuwarden! Want to know more about Laravel? Join us! About the speaker (Roy Voetman) --- Roy Voetman is a Laravel webdeveloper at NoardCode with a healthy interest in everything digital. Talk (Laravel Behind the Scenes) --- I am Roy Voetman and I've been working with Laravel for quite some time. I have decided to dig deep in Laravel's core to find out how this amazing framework works behind the scenes. During this talk, I will explain how Laravel works under the hood, from getting a request in index.php to rendering the response back to the client. In addition, I would like to show you some cool "magic" that is happening behind the scenes. Since this is quite advanced, I will split the talk into two parts. First I will talk a little theory to make sure we are all on the same page, next we will begin our journey into the depths of laravel's core. The talk will be in English or Dutch. Schedule --- - 19.00 / Walk in - 19.30 / Welcome - 19.35 / Laravel Behind the Scenes - 21.00 / Closing and social Location --- NoardCode Hortensiastraat[masked] HD Leeuwarden

  • Monthly Meetup (September 2019)

    Hortensiastraat 10

Over deze Meetup --- Dinsdag 17 september organiseren wij weer een PHP.frl Meetup in Leeuwarden! Over de spreker (Mark Baker) --- Mark is a Senior Software Engineer on the SMS team at MessageBird BV, based in Amsterdam. He has been working in the computer software industry since before symbolics.com was registered as a domain name, before the term "cyberspace" was first used in fiction, when Linus Torvalds and Rasmus Lerdorf were still at high school, and Mrs. Zuckerberg had yet to give birth to a bouncing baby social network enabler; and has been developing for the Web in a variety of languages since the days when the Tim Berners-Lee's creation comprised less than 1,000 sites. His particular interests include PHP integration with office suites, Generators, Anonymous Functions and Classes, Datastructures, Textual analysis, Geodata and geographic information systems, and "big data" and data analysis. Talk (What's in Store in 7.4?) --- PHP 7.4 is scheduled to be released on November 21, 2019. It’s the next minor release of PHP 7, and will again boost performance and improve code readability/maintainability. But while PHP 7.3 was a relatively small release; the upcoming 7.4 release has a lot more exciting additions and new features to improve the way we write our code, not to mention a few “gotchas”. From the new “arrow functions” that are more than simply syntactic sugar for closures, to Covariant Returns and Contravariant Parameters; from typed properties, to changes in precedence of the concatenation operator. Let’s take a look at what PHP 7.4 has to offer us as developers, and what pitfalls it might create for the unwary. The talk will be in English Schedule --- - 19.00 / Walk in - 19.30 / Welcome - 19.35 / What's in Store in 7.4? - 21.00 / Closing and social Location --- NoardCode Hortensiastraat[masked] HD Leeuwarden
