5:30-5:45PM Welcome and Networking
6:00pm - 7:00PM Speaker SessionTopic: No 79 - Rod Colledge - Transitioning to Microsoft Fabric
THE SPEAKER
Rod Colledge
Senior Technical Specialist, Data & AI | MicrosoftBased in Brisbane, Rod started working at Microsoft in 2015 when he had brown hair and Power BI was 6 months old (so cute!). Prior to that he was a SQL Server MVP and spent long summer nights playing with Project Crescent and Excel add-ins such as Power Maps (which killed his laptop's GPU).
These days, he enjoys talking about himself in the third person and spends most of his time in Microsoft Fabric and Azure Open AI.
THE SESSION
In this session, we'll unpack the announcement from earlier this year about the retirement of the Power BI Premium per Capacity SKU, and what that means as we transition to the Fabric F SKU. One half commercial, one half technical and one half demos ... wait, hold on ... We'll also address the "reports and dashboards are dead to me" sentiment Rod's increasingly hearing, and how we can utilize Fabric magic to reduce the impact on source systems from Power BI, saving money and writing less transformation code. It's tasty stuff
