This is a group for anyone interesting in the programming language Rust, whether they are just curious or using Rust day-to-day. All skill levels welcome!
As members of the wider Rust community, we uphold the Rust Code of Conduct (https://www.rust-lang.org/conduct.html), and are committed to providing a friendly, safe and welcoming environment for all, regardless of gender, sexual orientation, disability, ethnicity, religion, or similar personal characteristic.
It's been over 2 years since our last *physical* meetup (March 2020), but only recently have we seen people ping us about the possibility of getting together again in person.
The good news is that a few companies have put their hands up to host meetups, and another few would like to sponsor food and drinks. There's also been an uptick of people getting in contact looking for Rust Developers. So it all looks bright on Rust adoption in Melbourne!
The bad news is that I can't yet make any promises about actually holding a physical meetup until it's safe to do so again. So instead I'd like to put up a "Who's Interested" event to see the numbers on how many people would like to attend a face-to-face Rust Melbourne Meetup in the coming months (towards the end of March, or April).
Note: This is just for a show of hands, so don't be too hung up on the date. I just can't put a TBA date in the UI, so the current date is not set in stone.
Note2: If situations change, this date will be pushed back a few weeks until it makes sense once again.
