Short film and discussion - share your thoughts. There’s been real progress in reporting on climate change. IPCC reports do get covered. It’s no longer routine to make it he said/she said. Extreme weather events occasionally are reported with a minor reference to climate change. Is this enough? What more can a daily paper do? What more can our own Herald Tribune do? Dr Porter will outline this timeline and key facts and then move to counter climate denier talking points with actual progress and solutions concerning renewable energy and our path forward.

Sustainable Communities Workshop

The 14th Annual Sustainable Communities Workshop, "Growing Greener Generations," will bring the community together to discuss sustainability priorities. The event is organized by UF/IFAS extension Sarasota County. Regular registration is $45 per person from Oct. 15 until Nov. 14. Registration fee includes continental breakfast, lunch and afternoon break refreshments catered by a local green business partner serving fresh, local, healthy, delicious food. The student rate is $25.
