What we're about

# What is SecTalks Brisbane?

SecTalks Brisbane is a non-profit session for technical security talks, and hands-on challenges. A forum to discuss technical (in)security stuff and share our thoughts. SecTalks Brisbane is held every month.

# What happens at a SecTalks Brisbane?

We have a monthly catch-up where someone presents on something interesting (sometimes VERY interesting!). We also have a monthly challenge that everyone gets their hands on. SecTalks Brisbane is community focused, open to beginners and experts alike, and vendor-pitch free. Those that are interested in learning infosec, hacking, computer security, and Capture the Flag challenges (and similar) are encouraged to attend.

# How SecTalks is organised?

It is 100% organic voluntary effort. Something that we feel we need to have. People in SecTalks are quite passionate and open for new ideas and discussion. We have people with different backgrounds.

# This is super cool, I wanna join SecTalks!

Sure! We always like to get more awesome people in.

# But I am new to security and want to learn, can I still join?

SecTalks is always open to anyone who is keen to learn infosec. Those that are interested in learning infosec, hacking, computer security, and Capture the Flag challenges (and similar) are encouraged to attend. We have a few places in each session for newcomers and we will team you up with others with more experience, so you can learn.

# I've a question, how can I get in touch with you?

BNE0x33 (52nd Session)

BDO

NEW LOCATION!!! NEW TIME!!!
Strict RSVP requirements, due to Covid restrictions.

Presentation will start at 5:30pm. Access to the venue closes at 6pm. You will have a hard time getting into the building, if you’re late!

This month, Phillip Lubowicz will do a presentation on cybersecurity at home. Then we'll break for some pizza and drinks.

Lots of fun technical security learnings to be had! And/or just come and be social :)

Here are some things to take note of:
1) This is supposed to be a fun, learning event for the security and hacker community.
B) Spots are limited and therefore valuable. If you have a ticket and you intend not to show up, then release it!!! Release it as soon as you can. If you release it on the day, or 10 minutes before the meetup, then you probably haven’t given the next-in-line sufficient warning.
Four) If you have a ticket and are a no-show (this includes releasing the ticket on the day), then you will be blacklisted for a number of meetups at the organisers’ discretion.
💩) Be excellent to each other.
