Suwanee Take-a-Hikers

Elachee/Chicopee has a really nice trail system offering sections that walk along or above streams, a section that partially circles a lake, and even a 140’ suspension bridge to cross. That’s length BTW, not height, in case you were concerned. All this beauty, and the center sits just a few exits up 985 in Gainesville, GA. And ... we get to cross the bridge twice!😊

We will combine mainly two trails, the 2.91-mile Bridge Loop Trail, and the 3-mile Lake Loop Trail, forming a figure 8. To this we will add small segments of the yellow and red trails for a total of about 6.25 miles. The trails are mostly soft surface and are rated as moderate as there is some elevation to these, so please be prepared. Our pace will be about 2.5 to 3 mph. So, please be prepared for a little more than a stroll. We will take a couple of short breaks along the route.

We will meet at the entrance to the gravel parking lot dedicated to hikers. That lot is the first one you will see on the right as you cross over 985 on Elachee Dr. As always, I have placed the pin in the event map directly on the spot we will meet. So, if you link your device to that pin using google maps, big brother or sister will guide you to the proper meeting place.

The hike will start from the meeting place at 9:32 am. I do like to and will start on time so please do not be late for the consideration of all attendees.

Apologies to the pups, but dogs are not currently allowed on the trails. BOOOOO! 😟

Parking is $5.00 per vehicle and can be paid at the gated entrance to the park. I believe there is a porta potty in the parking lot and one along the route, but pls don't hold me to that.

Let’s take-a-hike to Pinnacle Knob to view the Fall colors!

This just shy of 8 mile out and back near Clayton has lots to offer.

Starting from Warwoman Dell, near Clayton GA, we will hike the 1800+ foot ascent to Pinnacle Knob vista. On the way up we will pass Becky Branch Falls and Martin Falls. Come to think of it we will pass those on the way down since this is an O&B.

AllTrails lists this hike as moderate. I would put it at moderate +plus+ as there are few stretches with steep inclines, a few with rocky/rooty surfaces, and a couple of very shallow creek crossings. And then there is the 1800+ incline and near 8 mile distance to consider. So, please read the summaries and reviews listed in the links below if you are uncertain if this trail is for you.

Our groups pace is about 2.25 – 2.5 mph. Not a sprint, but not a crawl either. Poles are recommended if that is your thing.

Energetic doggies are permitted on this trail and very welcome/encouraged to attend. Woof! 🐕‍🦺

We will park and meet at the Bartram Trailhead/Warwoman Dell parking lot. You can find directions by linking to google maps via the red pin map on this event listing. But I would suggest familiarizing yourself with the directions beforehand as cell service can be a bit spotty in that area.

The hike will start at 9:30 a.m. and I figure it will take us just under 5 hours in total with rest breaks and some time at the top. Please note: I do like to and will start events on time so please do not be late for the consideration of all attendees. Given the timeframe and hike length, you may want to pack a light lunch to enjoy while taking in the views at the top.

Parking is free. But here's a tip: I would always keep $5 cash tucked away somewhere in in your backpack so you are pretty much prepared for any hike in N GA.
