What we're about

# Our bookclub is currently at capacity, so unable to take on new members right now.

We keep our bookclub small on purpose: having a maximum of 35 or so members at any time.#

Established in 2006, we are book-lovers who meet in the Sydney CBD. We usually meet the first week of the month, on Mondays or Tuesdays from 6:30pm to discuss this month's book at venues that are 5-10mins walk Central or any of the Sydney CBD train stations. We also hold Sunday brunch meetings 3-4 times per year.

Most members are 30-50 years and enjoy reading a variety of books, including fiction, non-fiction and book-to-film adaptions. The group jointly selects books to read every six months. To keep members costs down, we generally favour books in public libraries or second hand bookshops. Though we do read the occasional new release if it comes highly recommended.

While primarily a bookclub, we will occasionally go to the movies or see plays together.

We keep our membership small so everyone has a chance to attend.

Upcoming book discussions from May 2018 include:

* Museum of Modern Love (Heather Rose)

* Sapiens:A Brief History of Humankind (Yuval Noah Harari)

* The Husband's Secret (Liane Moriarty)

* Mr. Penumbra's 24-Hour Bookstore (Robin Sloan)

* Don't Take Your Love to Town (Ruby Langford Ginibi)

When attending a meetings we can share the cost of running our group from meetup (First attendance is free. Commencing May2016, annual membership of $20 is encouraged, but a casual per-meeting fee is also offered.) All funds collected will be documented and additional amounts collected will be donated to charity.
