Archibald Prize 2025

Australia’s most engaging art event.

This is a great annual event for us as we indulge in a morning at the Gallery with Lunch afterwards.

The 2025 $100, 000 Archibald Prize has been won by Julie Fragar for her portrait of friend and fellow artist Justene Williams- "Flagship Mother Multiverse".See portrait below.

"Fragar, a four-time Archibald finalist, says its "incredibly meaningful" to be the 13th woman to win the prize in its 104-year history, especially in the same year that the 1st woman director was appointed to lead the Art Gallery of New South Wales.

Fragar hopes the portrait captures her friend's "singularity" and "otherworldliness".

Tickets have been released @$25pp.

Meeting Point : At the front entrance near the stairs around 11:15am-ish. Waiting for everyone to arrive and enter by 11:30am. Just talk to each other in the comments section as usual.

Lunch : TBC by attendees but can I suggest either a walk down to a pub in Woolloomooloo?Across the road at The Terrace Cafe-great pizza but long wait times, Or if the weather is grand, take a 10minute walk over to William Street and checkout the rooftop venue, The Kasbah.
Y'all can discuss/decide on the day.
