NEW WALK: Winter Woodlands around Warmley and Siston
Details
It is always good to get our for a country walk between Christmas and New Year.
This year we are going somewhere new that will be suitable for our Bristol walkers (it's on a bus route) and also for our further afield walkers who will be able to reach our start point by car without going into the city.
Meeting at Warmley Waiting Room Cafe we will follow Siston Brook upstream along field paths and trackways.
The village of Siston (pronounced size-ton) is a little way south of Pucklechurch. There is a sixteenth century manor house and a fine church.
The main reason we are going is so that we can enjoy some strolling in the wonderful winter woodlands. Partly ancient and partly trees newly planted in the 1990s that have now matured into a lovely emerging woodland. We are on the look out for wildlife and wintery scenes.
Our walk will be about 5.73 miles. You will need walking boots. We will stop along the way for a picnic lunch and find somewhere for coffee and cake.
As is our custom a historical travelogue style article based on Steve's research notes will be sent out to participants after the event. These will allow you to hold onto what you have learned from our walking in the winter woodlands on the edge of Bristol.
If you would like to lift share from Bristol or Bath then please use the comment board below to make the arrangements.
