Story of Bristol (Monday): Uphill with the Georgian elite
Details
Over the last three years we have put on eighty-six different Monday discovery tours across the whole of Bristol. We really know this city!
On these Story of Bristol Tours we are working our way through the chronology of the City of Bristol from it's Saxon Origins to the Post War Rebuild.
On this month's Story of Bristol Tour will continue our exploration of the Georgian (eighteenth century) expansion of the city.
We will follow in the footsteps of the wealthy merchants as they moved uphill along Park Street to escape the smell and disease of the harbourside.
We will examine eighteenth century architectural trends and explore the Transatlantic Slave Trade.
We enjoy a coffee in a local café at the end of our Monday morning Random Stuff in Bristol walks. This week we will finish at Spicer and Cole in the Royal West of England Academy
This is a great opportunity to start your week with a bit of leg stretching and some tongue wagging along the way. Exercise, socialising and learning are three out of the five steps to mental wellbeing.
As well as getting to know the story of your city.
A Walk in the Past is a friendly group where regulars and newcomers are always welcome. Our aim is to combine a good walk with pleasant company in historic landscapes.
