Linked Data: what it is and why we do it
Hosted by Canberra Semantic Web Meetup Group
Details
This is an introductory lecture into Linked Data. Nick will go through some of the basics of Linked Data, its development from earlier web and database concepts and some examples of existing and developing Linked Data systems.
This lecture will give slightly different information to what you might find in a textbook on Linked Data: it will present Nick's take on Linked Data garnered not just from reading the textbooks but also from developing Linked Data systems at CSIRO and recently at Geoscience Australia. If you want to get a cross practical Linked Data, this lecture and the series are for you!
This lecture is the first part in a series of 4. Originally delivered internally to Geoscience Australia in February 2016, two of the lectures are being re-delivered with public invitations to help spread the Linked Data message!
The second public part will be delivered a week after this lecture. It will focus on descriptions of end-to-end Linked Data system establishment.
The series will also be available online in time too.
