Difficulty level: Grade 3 mediumEnjoy spectacular scenery of rugged ridges and a wide variety of native plants and animals along the high plateau of Morialta Conservation Park – we will not descend into Morialta picnic area. This section of the well-known Yurrebilla trail begins on the northern side of Morialta Conservation Park and ends in Norton Summit. We get to pass the old Morialta Barns complex, the creeks, and Morialta‘s third waterfall.
This is a one-way hike with few steep bits, but nothing onerous. Meet at the finish location in Norton Summit by the fire station opposite the Scenic Hotel on Colonial Dr (see precision drop-pin on the map), we will then carpool to the start location in Montacute. Meet at 8.50 am to arrange rideshares, and be ready to start a 9 am sharp. Raingear a must! Good hiking shoes recommended.
Bring snacks to have during our short break half-way at a lookout where sweeping views of the city can be had.
