- Adelaide 100 Loop section 3: Mark Oliphant CP to Mt George CPMount George Recreation Zone, Mount George
Distance: 13 km
Duration 4 hrs
Elevation: 400 m
Difficulty: Medium level 3We are at the third walk in this series, and I invite our Loop faithfuls and new-commers to join us again on this exploratory journey that is taking us around the Adelaide-100 circuit in small segments of approximately 12 kms each, enough to fit in a day’s hike. This section starts at Mark Oliphant CP and goes to Mount George CP.
This is a one-way hike with undulating elevation and two hills to climb. We will be walking through part of Mark Oliphant CP, passing between Stirling and Aldgate, and will meander through part of the Heysen trail, emerging in Mt George Conservation Park. Some country road walking is necessary to stitch these magnificent spots together, but mostly on low-traffic roads with walkable shoulders. Meet at the finish location at Mt George Picnic Area located at the end of Mt George Rd (see drop-pin on the map). We will then carpool to the start location in Ironbank. Meet at 8.50 am to organise ride shares, and be ready or departure at 9 am sharp. Good hiking shoes and hat a must!By recording a YES RSVP and/or attending this Event you are agreeing to our Policies & Guidelines and our Disclaimer & Release
NB: We do not stop for lunch in these walks. Please bring a good snack to have in the 10-min break we take, so that it will hold you over for your late lunch afterwards. The Adelaide100® is a 100km-circuit walk that meanders through the city, the suburbs, and the adjoining hills of Adelaide. It can be started from any point along the circuit. The loop utilises existing trails, and local networks.
