Details

Starting at the Herbig Family Tree House (a tree where a family of German immigrants lived in the 1850s) we head north through KEYNES GAP & MARNE ROCKS, two very attractive rocky areas. The trail then follows a shallow valley northwards to cross country section on a ridge with extensive views to the east & west.

The Lavender Trail is a 250km trail that extends from Murray Bridge to Manoora. They are currently constructing a further 60km of trail & by the end of 2017 the trail should reach Clare. The trail is named after Terry Lavender - the man who designed the Heysen Trail. Once he finished the Heysen Trail, Mr Lavender starting working on this trail. When he died the name of the trail was changed to the Lavender Trail to honour his contribution to walking trails in SA.

TYPE OF WALK: one way, end-to-end, car shuffle

CAR POOLING: If you wish to car pool to the start, please contact me, so that we can make sure that we have enough cars to do the car shuffle

TRANSPORT LOGISTICS:

We need to know exactly how many people are coming so that we know how many cars we need to do the car shuffle. It is important that you do not rsvp then cancel at the last minute (less than 24 hrs prior to the hike), so that we can finalise transport logistics & have enough cars to do the hike

DISTANCE: approx 25km

BRING: Hat, rain jacket, lunch & snacks, 3L water, torch
